Has it hit you yet? The sense of urgency? Of the holidays beginning and already leaving you behind? The scariest thing I saw on Halloween was holly garlands and a Christmas tree in the mall. Frightening! Many of us bemoan this rush of holidays in the fall. What’s a crafter to do? I did write a post in September about taking it easy this knit season. (Here’s a link if you missed it.) And I have managed to stick to my plan. Only two big Christmas knit projects. I hope you have had a chance to think through your holiday crafting plans.
I may have limited my big projects, but I still have a hankering to knit little items. I can’t help myself. The instant satisfaction is delightful. And the world needs lots of woollies to keep it warm every winter. So when I ran across a clever pattern for a coffee cozy, I downloaded it immediately. (Check it out with this link.) It is the perfect bit of knitting. You get to practice cables. It knits up quickly. And the cozy makes a perfect little gift. Slip it around a coffee mug or a take out cup, add some candy or a gift card, and you have a thoughtful little present.
So on this chilly Friday afternoon I will relax. I will sip some tea and knit a cozy. Just a gentle reminder to take it easy in a season where obligations can become overwhelming.
How are you poised to take time out when the holiday prep gets to be too much?
