The Resurrected Life

This month the focus is on the resurrected life. I could write all sorts of churchy, Christian-ese lingo to explain what that means to me. Instead, I want to share some pictures of the resurrected life in action . . . through baptism. The people in these photos have amazing stories probably not unlike your own. They each are messy, broken sinners who have been changed into something new.

These are just a handful of the many stories I have witnessed here in Uganda. Our church family is large and growing! Baptism is a look inside the hearts of our people as they move in obedience to Jesus’ call.

Check out my friend’s blog about her own experience with baptism. She was counted among some of these people who were baptized here in Uganda. We counted it such joy to watch her take this step!

Also check out this link to see all many more baptism photos and visual reminders of the resurrected life manifesting in Uganda!

This is Bolton. He is 23. Bolton joined us with no church background and God immediately started shaping him. After his confession and baptism he has become our worship leader, teaching himself to play the guitar in less than a year. He is a leader among his peers. Radically changed by grace!

My daughter was baptized last year. Her young life is constantly being shaped by Jesus.

This young man we have nicknamed BW’s. He amazed us with his willingness to serve and his love for Jesus. BW’s serves the church as a deacon and assistant preacher. The heart change in this young man can only be explained by grace.

This is Fiona. She was known as the neighborhood drunk. Fiona loves Jesus has a HUGE heart for the “unsavory characters” that other Christians often reject. Her baptism was one of the sweetest and most joyful ones I have ever seen.

My youngest son was also baptized on Easter Sunday. This kid struggles emotionally, and watching him commit himself in baptism was a huge step for him. I am beyond grateful to have seen all three of my kids make this public proclamation of their faith in Jesus.

Bella just became a Christian less than a year ago. She left the Catholic church much to her family’s dismay. Watching her grow in Christ is so exciting. She got baptized on Easter Sunday and is walking down the aisle on Saturday, starting her married life as a new creation!
